IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ETHICAL CONDUCT OF AN OAMFT MEMBER
If you are seeing a therapist and you think that person might be acting unethically, you can speak with the Ontario Association for Marriage & Family Therapy Ethics Specialist about your concerns. The OAMFT Ethics Chair is a member of our Board of Directors whose job is to help the public understand the Code of Ethics, and to provide information about how to make complaints against members if necessary. To reach the OAMFT Ethics Chair, call 1-800-267-2638 or email email@example.com.
HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST AN OAMFT MEMBER
If you believe that an OAMFT member is acting unethically, you may be able to file a formal complaint against that person. All formal complaints against Ontario members are handled by our parent organization, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). The first step is to verify that the therapist is a member of OAMFT. You can do this by calling 1-800-267-2638 or by emailing our Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For a more detailed outline of steps to follow in laying a complaint against an OAMFT member, please visit the AAMFT website.
