Leading Edge Seminars

A Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy:
A Year-long Professional Training with Stan Tatkin, PsyD

Dates: September 19 and 20, 2011; November 7 and 8, 2011; March 19 and 20, 2012;
and June 11 and 12, 2012

Quickly gaining a reputation for being successful with couples for whom traditional talk therapy is not working, PACT will offer you a method and skills to quickly, effectively, and accurately read and engage in the subtext of how your clients interact even if they are busily self-censoring or spinning their own responses.

PACT integrates the latest research in attachment theory, arousal regulation and developmental neurobiology. You will discover and analyze psychobiological cues, or “tells,” and other bottom-up (implicit) processes that reveal what top-down (explicit) approaches cannot. Armed with this level of insight, you will learn to therapeutically stage interventions that will trigger arousal and implicit somatoaffective experience and memory.

The New Rules of Marriage: A Relational Life Therapy Approach to Couples and Couples Therapy with Terrence Real, MSW, L.I.C.S.W

November 10 – 11, 2011

Many couples today expect a level of physical, intellectual, and emotional intimacy never before imagined by previous generations. Unfortunately, few have the relationship skills needed to achieve this. RLT addresses the asymmetry between the relational appetites and skills that people bring to their relationships, and provides ways to challenge the losing strategies partners use.
